OUR STORY:

In 2006, Jim and Maggi Dalton, together with several colleagues from the educational, professional, and musical fields, founded a new nonprofit organization, The Institute for Music, History, and Cultural Traditions.

IMHCT.ORG was founded to foster a scholarly, broader and richer understanding of (and love for) the importance of music in human history, in creative, entertaining, engaging and innovative ways. To expand that mission, and extend that vision, the Institute produces the American History and Music Festival (TM).

The American History and Music Festival (TM) will combine historical music and local history programs, offered to the public throughout the North Shore and in Boston, Mass. In addition, the Festival will sponsor in-school educational programs for children K-12, at the college level, and in community centers for adult populations.

Each program will feature, in addition to musical performances and concerts, a local history component in collaboration with local cultural, educational, and artistic nonprofit organizations in each town in which a Festival Event is held.
Proceeds from Festival performances will help to fund the educational services of the parent organization, IMHCT.ORG.

IMHCT is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible.

Three programs are planned yearly, in the North of Boston and Boston region.

So, what IS "historically-informed performance," anyway?

Please note that the Institute primarily collaborates in our progamming with other nonprofit humanities and arts organizations. The Institute/Festival cannot and does not accept unsolicited material or applications from individual performers and speakers.

"American History and Music Festival (TM)" is our trademark umbrella term for a series of IMHCT events and programs produced each year, in connection with the scholarly research associated with same, in several different locales. The term "Festival" does not refer to a discrete event with several "acts."

The Institute/Festival cannot and does not accept
unsolicited material or applications from individual performers and speakers.

Please DO NOT send any materials to our office.

All unsolicited performer and speaker materials,
in any format, will be returned unopened or discarded.

Please respect this request.
